I'd like to recommend a CD I purchased recently, Catalogue No: Naxos
8.554368. It contains music by the Australian composer Michael Easton
(born 1954), including the excellent 'Beasts of the Bush'. The latter
piece is 18 minutes long, a modern morality tale spiced with much Aussie
humour.

However, the rest of the disc is also excellent, including an interesting
take on Gershwin's original idea, entitled 'An Australian in Paris'.

The 'Concerto on Australian Themes' has a wonderful finale, incorporating
such well-known Aussie tunes as 'Click Go The Shears' and 'Waltzing
Matilda'.

It is well worth exploring this inexpensive disc of attractive contemporary
music.
