This thread has been most interesting and a real eye-opener to me. From
my perspective, Dave has won every point and has absolutely no reason to
apologize for not listening to music after working in it all day.

If you will move this out of context by considering any other
profession, imagine an engineer who worked in his field 8 - 12 hours/day
and then did engineering recreationally in all his free time. You would
have to say that this person loves engineering, but other descriptors
would also come to mind such as dull, narrow, obsessive/compulsive, and
not much fun to be around. If there were a family, the relationships
must be unusual to say the least. On the other hand, if the engineer
spent his evenings listening to music and/or reading, as I do, you would
certainly hope that he would not hear directives to "get out of
engineering."
