Well it certainly wasn't me.  Herbie's early 80-s digital recordings (The
Planets, Nielsen 4) were some of the nastiest-sounding recordings I've ever
heard.  Given that he had total control over what was released, I suspect
his hearing was starting to go.

I don't believe that a label as diverse and large as DG has a single
'house' sound (unlike say Chandos or Hyperion or BIS).  I've heard awful
recordings and fabulous (well, OK, very good) recordings on DG made in the
same venue within a few years.
