Jan Templiner asks:

I reviewed this disc for MusicWeb, so I went back to read it over and
see if I mentioned the placement of the stringed instruments. Nothing
there, so I played some of the disc again. Yes, the first violins are
"seated on the right".
This is a little humorous, because I am often oblivious to what's going
on beyond my narrow and concentrated range of focus. I guess that Jan
is saying that first violins are generally seated on the left or in the
middle, but I've never noticed one way or the other. Does it make a
difference? Is that the way it is in live concerts? Where am I?
Beyond the sound characterisics, what do list members think of the
performances which feature Patrick Gallois on flute; he is also co-director
of the orchestra. Personally, I don't care much for his flute playing
- showboat and interventionist. I do love the performance of the G major
Concerto, and the Flute and Harp Concerto is mightly fine. However, I
find the D major's 1st Movement a disaster - too fast and this is where
Gallois really goes overboard. One thing for sure - Gallois is not a
lazy performer.
