I love the Harnoncourts, but the contrast between very loud and very
soft is so great that I need to keep my hand on the volume control.
Still, they are an exciting set.

I still have a soft spot in my heart for the Klemperers.  They were not
the first set I heard, but they are the set I crave when I get in a
Beethoven Symphony mood.
