I'm glad that the first instalment of a (hopeful??) Naxos cycle of
Martinu's string quartets, announced here more than a year ago I believe,
is finally available or soon so to be according to hnh.com among other
sources. (I don't know about .you., but .I. heard about it here first:)

-Eric Schissel (who also sees that Barber orchestral works volume 1, with
the symphonies, on Naxos is on its way, and other things besides; and
Englund sym. 6 on Ondine, and Bacewicz quartets 1&2 for the first time on
CD on another label besides after multiple recordings of her quartets
3-7... a friend told me once that her quartets 1&2 were once on LP so I
don't say rashly world-premiere recordings as I otherwise might. But I've
never seen or heard tell of that LP otherwise. BBC had her first violin
concerto recently- a bit overbrief but nice, in the manner of the-
better-proportioned and very fine- 3rd symphony on Koch-Schwann from around
the same time.)
