A colleague of mine walked into my office the other day and handed me
two tickets to a dress rehearsal of Puccini's _Manon Lescaut_. I've never
seen or heard this work, and would like to give it a spin before attending.
Thus I'd appreciate it if list opera-mavens would be good enough to
recommend a version, if possible one with at least decent sound.

Also, how closely does the opera stick to the novel by Prevost on which, I
guess, the libretto was based? (I note that the libretto was written by a
fellow called "Scribe." What a great name for a writer!)

Thanks,

David Cozy
