Obviously deep trauma during childhood;
someone beat him when he sneezed.
(You aren't the only one with Literary/musical knowledge.
 Why do you think this bungalow is called "Banbury Cross"?)
Doris><> Rings on fingers but no bells on toes so far........

Incidentally, some Nursery Rhymes are so far from their original
reasons for coming into being, they are quite puzzling.
We all know about "Ring of Roses of course"

Also, is a short piece also, known to all little
recorder & piano players, called "Little John",
which is sometimes listed as a "Traditional German Song"
Can any of the well informed but young at heart
intellectuals on this list tell this amateur pianist with
 a few young pupils,
why the picture at the head of this song shows a young lad,
stick with parcel over his shoulder, being tipped
 into a river by the horse hes is riding?
