If the current tour of Steven Isserlis and Stephen Hough touches down
anywhere near (or far) from you, do not miss. Formidable separately,
the two are dynamite together.

Their program tonight in San Francisco's Herbst Theater: Brahms Cello-Piano
Sonatas No. 1 and 2, Hummel, "Variations a la Monferrina," Suk, "Ballade"
(a youthful work that made Dvorak take him as his student) and "Serenade,"
Martinu, "Variations on a Slovak Theme." A wonderful evening.
