Do critics still have an important role in our cultural life? Are they the
movers and shakers and true champions of classical music or are they barely
able to comprehend advances in musical tastes let alone write with any
authority about new music?

Read Marc Bridle's November Editorial in Seen&Heard - the live concert
reviewing section of MusicWeb.

Whilst there you can pick up reviews of two recent concerts Beethoven,
Lutoslawski: Mikhail Pletnev; Philharmonia Orchestra/Christoph von
Dohnanyi, Royal Festival Hall, Tuesday, November 13th, 2001 (CC).

Mozart & Schumann: Cecilia Bartoli (mezzo); Chamber Orchestra of
Euope/Nikolaus Harnoncourt. November 12th, 2001, Royal Festival Hall,
London (CC).
