Unconfirmed, but the news is that Lou Harrison died yesterday. He was
85 and I expected at least a dozen more years from him...:(

The report:

   He was on the way to Ohio for a festival of his music and
   collapsed in Chicago.  He recently finished a book of poems
   and gamelan music, and was planning to teach gamelan at
   Cabrillo College this term. Lou had also become interested
   in a new form of building that involved filling nylon tubes
   with clay and coiling them up to harden into domes.
