I appreciate Renato sharing his listening environment preference with us.
My preferences are fairly similar, as watching an orchestra and conductor
does not particularly impact me in a favorable way.

When listening to music alone without any visual stimuli, I find that I
can best concentrate on the music, understand it, and develop those images
which make the music treasurable.

Although not entirely analagous, I remember having some skepticism about
music videos on tape and tv. Instead of conjuring up your own internal
images based on the music, these videos provided the images and, perhaps,
precluded internal-based images from being developed.
