Donald Clarke responded to Mitch Friedfeld:

>>I have to admit I am not "getting" the Grosse Fuge. How do you say
>>"unlistenable" in German?

>The Rasumovskys and the Harp are my favorites. I haven't 'got' the Great
>Fugues yet either, but I know it's because I haven't heard the right

Part of the fun is the journey, not the reaching of the goal. Music
isn't fast food or instant gratification. Persist and enjoy! Try and
get hold of Andras Schiff's Wigmore Hall lectures on the Beethoven chamber
works. He still finds them exciting and learns from them even though
he's been playing them all his life.
