Deryk Barker responds to me responding to him:

IT looks like you said (with a few small omissions)," we are expected to
hear...these early gropings of his as if they were mature masterworks."
These are your words minus a few of little consequence. I apologize if
I created a different meaning to your quote but it sure seems like I got
it right. Anyway, apologies! I am not here to squawk over a
misunderstanding.

That's your opinion about Bach. I share the same opinion but it isn't an
absolute. Besides, Bach doesn't NEED the publicity because he has been a
major name, if not, THE name in classical music for a long time, indeed
centuries. Paul needs the publicity in the same way that I would need
publicity to sell as may records as by any of the classic greats. Doesn't
have a darn thing to do with quality. If Tower/Borders/Virgin began
stocking CD's of my music I'm sure they wouldn't sell a single disc (except
to my mom, then again, that's a big maybe!) I wouldn't say it's because
Bach is better than me. How can he be better than someone that no one has
ever heard. Well, Bach IS better than anyone in my opinion and he'll never
need publicity to sell records. If, somehow, I could compose as well or
better than Bach, I still wouldn't see any dramatic sales in my lifetime.
At least I don't think so.

I wouldn't be so quick to judge the sales ideas at EMI concerning Paul
McCartney. the fact is, he has sold millions and millions of records.
I think it is quite a smart decision to get the word out about upcoming
McCartney releases.
