I think common and popular pieces are the best to introduce someone who may
not be familiar with classical music. I would choose the followings:

- Prokofiev's Peter and the wolf
- Sibelius's violin concerto
- Schubert's string quartet no.14 in D minor, " Death and the Maiden"
- Mozart's piano concerto no. 20 in D minor, K.466
- Beethoven's symphony no. 5
- Saint-saens's carnival of the animals
- J.S.Bach's chromatic fantasia and fugue in D minor, BWV 903
- Mendelssohn's Rondo Capriccioso, op. 14
- Schubert's Die Schone Mullerin D 795
- Gershwin's Porgy and Bess
