The most irritating generalization of the month (albeit with a grain of
truth... and pinch of salt) --

"Opera is polarizing. The opera lover typically likes classical
music, but the classical lover doesn't love opera. And the opera
lover doesn't accept that. It's like arguing about religion."

The speaker is KDFC-FM program director Bill Lueth, quoted in today's
SF Chronicle by Joshua Kosman in a story about the reasons for the Bay
Area's only classical-music FM station no longer carrying the Met/Texaco
broadcasts. (For the full story, see: http://www.sfgate.com.)

The "good news" is that a Palo Alto AM station, KBZS, 1220 on the dial,
will pick up the broadcasts -- as its only music program. The station
otherwise covers business, especially Silly Valley. The really good news
is that the station's signal is OK, even in the city of seven+ hills.
