Mats Norrman asks:

>Why did Liszt write the "Faust" symphony? I would like to know why....

Liszt lived in Weimar from 1848-1861. The place where you'll find Goethe's
house and the place where Schiller lived too. Of course Liszt knew the
Faust Legend by heart right from the beginning. It was Berlioz who
inspired him in the first place, but living in a town of the two great
poets gave him the impetus to compose his Faust Symphony.
