I found this quote this morning -- regrettably without any attribution!
I seem to recall various threads over the last few months which sought
to define aspects of the musical experience. I especially like the
all-embracing nature of this quote, but wonder if anyone out there knows
who said it?

"Music expresses that which cannot be said and on which it is
   impossible to be silent."
