I have recordings from the earliest days of CD recordings...  but then,
only the very expensive players could display...  I think the lack of
drives which could display details discouraged what I felt was a helpful
addition.

I notice this on my classical music public radio broadcasts, where I
found the display information handy...  by 1996 or 1997 it became extremely
rare.

I am delighted to see more recordings now display all sorts of details
about the recording, performance, performers, and even histories of the
piece.
