Multi-Instrumentalist and Composer John Mock in Concert with the Southwest
Michigan Symphony Orchestra - March 17 at Mendel Center in Benton Township,
Michigan

Multi-instrumentalist and composer John Mock will be in concert with the
Southwest Michigan Symphony Orchestra - Robin Fountain, Music Director
on Saturday, March 17 - 8 PM on the Mainstage of the Mendel Center for
Arts and Technology, on the Napier Avenue Campus of Lake Michigan College,
2755 E.  Napier Avenue in Benton Township, Michigan.

This special 'Irish Rhapsody' concert will feature John Mock performing
selections from his emotionally evocative From the Shoreline compositions.
These beautiful works combine his love of Ireland and his talents as a
composer with his performances on guitar, concertina, mandolin and tin
whistle.  These works reflect the essence of the lands and landscapes
that have inspired Mr.  Mock and invite the audience to come along for
the journey.

The musical performances will also be supplemented by a lobby display
of the composer's superb photos of Ireland.

Other works on the program will include Victor Herbert's Irish Rhapsody,
Percy Grainger's Irish Tune from County Derry, and other special St.
Patrick's Day selections.

Born in New England, John Mock has worked with such notable artists as
the Dixie Chicks, Nanci Griffith, Maura O'Connell, Sylvia, Kathy Mattea,
and Mark O'Connor.

He has also written dozens of commissioned orchestral arrangements for
various recording artists including the Dixie Chicks, Nanci Griffith,
Kathy Mattea, Maura O'Connell, and Cherish the Ladies.  These works have
been performed by orchestras throughout America and the world, including
the London Symphony Orchestra, the National Symphony Orchestra, and the
Atlanta and Nashville Symphonies.

His credits as a composer and performer include commissions from the
Nashville Chamber Orchestra with appearances as a featured soloist in a
number of NCO concerts and recordings.  Mr. Mock's first solo album The
Day At Sea was released in September of 2005.
