Thanks, that provided an excellent clue.  The title appears there and
frequently elsewhere as "Funeral March of a Marionette, for piano or
orchestra in D minor". I have found sheet music for solo piano, so that's
getting warm.  I found two CD's with recordings of organ solo.  Several
for bassoon and various accompaniment.  But so far no recording for solo
piano.

I'll ask my local NPR station - perhaps they played it.
