Gottschalk performed several concerts in Rio de Janeiro. His output
includes operas, 2 symphonies, a piano concerto, orchestral music and
songs. Among his many piano pieces, one of the most interesting, IMO,
is the 'Triumphal Fantasy on the Brazilian National Anthem'. A good
recordings of this piece is avalilable on DECCA 414 348-2, with Cristina
Ortiz and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra under Moshe Atzmon.

Wilson Pereira.
