Patrik Enander wrote concerning Jando's Beethoven:

I'd place O'Conor below Jando in Beethoven. I just don't think O'Conor
well handles the intensity of Beethoven.

Bob Draper wrote concerning the Roberts/Nimbus set:

I don't know what most other people believe, but I think the Roberts set
is the best super budget (DDD) set on the market along with Alfredo Perl
on Arte Nova. Both do a good job, and I love the Nimbus piano sound.

Having said the above, it's important whether a buyer wants just one
recording of each Beethoven piano sonata or intends to have many. If just
one, I don't think that even Roberts or Perl fill the bill. There are so
many great Beethoven sonata recordings at full price, mid price, or in the
historical category that the *one* recording can easily be one the finest
in the discography.
