In effect, it is (or at least a nonstarter). There have been key elements
to Naxos's success: distribution; distribution; & distribution. The
success may offend you (& i've know socalled CM fans who _have_ been
offended by Naxos's success); but you can't avoid it: you see it in
bookstores; supermarkets - i've even seen them in post offices; & no
territory is safe from the clutches of King Karl. Beijing is heavily
fortified Naxos territory; as is Woomera; & no doubt if i ever get the
change to visit Great Zimbabwe, i'll find a Naxos stand in the nearest
tourist shop....

Arte Nova on the other hand is just another traditional CM label run by
traditional CM entrepreneurs aimed at the budget market. If it gets to
your territory at all - & it was available in Australia for about 15m one
Sunday in 1997 - it will be restricted to a stand in a traditional CM shop;
or the occasional splash stand in a mainstream record dealership. Without
the sales that Naxos engulf & devour plan for total world domination within
ten years; it simply can't compete.

Doesn't mean that there aren't great bargains on the label (the handful of
AN titles i've managed to find have been quite good); but if you're not
going to hustle, you ain't going to win....

All the best,
