It was Wolfgang Fassler, and Aaron is correct about the stunning results
acheived with just a few days of rehearsal on a very complex set.

Also, parphrasing what Speight Jenkins said:

   "There are only 6 tenors in the world who could sing this role, and
   we know their phone numbers".
