Ed Zubrow [log in to unmask]> quoted Chekhov:

I find this an impossible nut to crack: All great composers wrote at
least one work that can be considered outstanding--especially Shostakovich.

There have been threads before about "one-hit wonders" who have never
achieved a "distinct" body of work, but I don't think these composers
fit the Chekhov definition, which for me is "distinctly" literary.

If I had to pick a composer to fit the above definition, I'd pick Conlon
Nancarrow.
