You won't find a CD of Szell conducting these because he never recorded
them. I wish he had. Lenny had a way with Haydn and his set of the
"Paris" symphonies with the NYPO is the one I own and I am very happy
with it. I would stay away from Herbie.
I have no opinion on the HIPsters, except Sigiswald Kuijken and his La
Petite Bande. But I don't know if he recorded the "Paris" cycle. I am
fond of his "London" recordings. Hogwood gives stylish Haydn performances,
but again, he has yet to record the "Paris" cycle.
Regarding Szell. . . I am praying that Sony Masterworks Heritage will
reissue his mono recordings of Haydn's 88th and 104th!
