Note that in Striggio's libretto for Monteverdi's "Orfeo" the title
character charms Caronte to sleep (if not into conscientious compliance)
and that Proserpina brings out the loving side of Plutone.  A very
admirable way of defeating villainy (as opposed to villains).  Now
"Poppea," there's a bunch for you that would put any prime-time soap
opera to shame (and offer better music to boot)!
