Robert Simpson's anthology "The Symphony" (vol. I) has a chapter on
Mozart that goes through each of the symphonies (at least each of which
was accepted as a Mozart symphony at the time of writing). The content is
heavily theoretical. The writer (whose name I forgot) has some interesting
things to say about the later symphonies and has an unsparing attitutude
toward several of the earlier ones.
