In the 50s RCA Camden published a number of LPs credited to non-existent
orchestras.  I understand that these were cobbled together from 78s and
since the technology didn't exist at the time to positively establish
that two recordings were identical, they were on safe ground.  Among the
treasures I accumulated for $1.95 was the Eroica Symphony played by the
"Warwick Symphony," no conductor credited.
