You're right.  It was Schuman's concerto that McDuffie did with Slatkin/St.
Louis and Oliveira who did the Barber recording I thought I was thinking
of.  My (demonstrably imperfect) memory tells me I did hear McDuffie do the
Barber in Milwaukee, though.
