The Washington DC area's Orchestra of the 17th Century will be hosting
a fundraising art show and auction on the evening of Saturday, September
28th. The auction will be held at the National Rural Electric Coop
Conference Center in Arlington (Ballston), Virginia. It is convenient
to the Washington Metro Orange Line and free parking will be available
on premises. Complimentary hors d'oeuvres will be available, as will
door prizes. The Preview is at 7PM; with the auction from 8-10PM.

Proceeds will benefit the Orchestra and the Washington Cornett and
Sackbut Ensemble, as they prepare for an upcoming festival of "Northern
Baroque Music," featuring works from the Scandinavian and Baltic countries.
These concerts will be in November 2002 and March 2003. The music for
these events are partly the result of O17C Director Michael Holmes'
recent study tour in Scandinavia on a Fulbright Scholarship.

Another concert in April 2003 is planned that will feature Venetian
polychoral music by Gabrieli, Schutz, Marini, Castello and others.
The vocal ensemble Carmina, led by Vera Kochanowsky, will be featured
participants in all of these concerts.

Tickets for the auction can be bought at the door ($10 for individuals,
$15 for couples), or by contacting Yours truly. The art works will be
presented by Avatar Galleries of Pennsylvania (www.avatargalleries.com),
in several types and a full range of prices with full exchange value
option for five years. Ticket purchases are tax-deductible, so even if
you can't make the auction but would like to donate to the cause by
purchasing a ticket (or art from Avatar directly via their website--email
for details), both O17C and WCSE will benefit as they try to bring a
lesser-known portion of the Baroque repertory to the Washington area.

Further information about the Orchestra with links to the upcoming
concerts and Auction (including directions) can be obtained at their
website:

or you can email me directly. I'm a Board member of O17C, so please
excuse the shameless plug!
