This review praises the intensity of Abbado's Beethoven 6, which tells
you something about the reviewer. Beethoven's Pastoral should not be
intense, but relaxed. Bruno Walter's is by far the best, from this point
of view. For 5 and 7, Carlos Kleiber is good. For 3 and 9 Furtwangler.
You could do a lot worse than get that Furtwangler set at the special
price Crotchet advertises.
