Yes, you're right about the Pachelbel canon:  I had an interesting
experience two weeks ago, playing it on solo guitar for a wedding, during
the unity candle segment of the ceremony.  You could hear a pin drop while
the Canon was being played, nobody moved it seemed.  Why is classical
repertoire only producing a few 'crowd pleasers' and why are those usually
pieces that don't excite the performers very much at all? The whole
situation is upside down......
