I've been waiting patiently to give Amazon my money for this release;
no sign of it yet.  I tried Tower Classics in San Francisco as well as
Amoeba and Rasputin's.  Nothing.

I have this recording on LP as well as Stokowski's Messian/Ives if anyone
is interested.  The Messian was only played once and both are in great
shape.

I can imagine how good the sound is on the remastering.

Speaking of, I've been shopping in Tower again!  It's been exciting and
satisfying!  What happened?  Well, (and old-timers not a word), I've
been discovering the remastered ancient recordings of the 50's and 60's.
They *are* good--some of them sounding as if they were recorded yesterday.
The first astonishing surprise was DG's remastering of Stravinsky's "Le
Chant..." recorded in 1959.  (It's filler on the Maazel/Ravel
"L'Enfant..."/"L'Heure...").  How did they do this?  Next, (where is
that Mr. Duggan), was Klemperer's Mahler 2nd, remastered on EMI's Great
Recording series.  The '63 Gross Apple section explodes out of the
speakers, and there were very few moments in which I could detect any
compression.  (Yes, the 1st mov't march has a vicious yet rustic momentum
I've not heard elsewhere).  Another astonishingly weighty recording is
Ancerl's '60's Janacek, remastered by Supraphon for @$10 at Ameoba.  Not
to mention Vangaurd's Netania Davrath's Canteloube....

Maybe the majors *are* on the right track.
