The set of Beethoven symphonies by the Hungarian State Orchestra conducted
by Janos Ferencsik on Hungariton (a "Classical Diamonds" series) is very
good and was incredibly cheap when I bought it several years ago from
Canada.  I don't know if it's still in print or not; the recordings were
also available on LaserLite (also very inexpensive), but with the repeats
edited out.
