Hello All, Having recently written a couple of German lieder to texts
that I had never heard set (although this is hardly my favourite aspect
of music, so that isn't saying much!) I was rather annoyed to discover
that a song with the same title is on the Naxos "Schubert Songs" (i.e. a
selection of the most popular). As I am a bit of a miser (particularly at
Christmastide!) I do not intend to purchase the CD so that I can depress
myself with the comparison....

"Seh ich die Werke der Meister an,
   So seh ich das, was sie getan;
   Betracht ich meine Siebensachen,
Seh ich, was ich hatt' sollen machen."

"When I look at the works of the masters,
I see what they have done.
When I consider my own trifles,
I see what I ought to have done."
[Goethe: and he was a fine one to talk:)]

.....however, I can order the sheet music on loan from my local library.
However, to do this I need a D number and / or whether the piece is from
the beginning, middle or end of the composer's life (i.e. volume I, II, or
III). Can anyone help? The piece is entitled "Wanderers Song at Night"
("Wanderers Nachtlied").

Thank you!
