The World Premiere performances of Judith Shatin's new electronic s=
core
for inFluxdance's Honey Sweet Pomegranate Seeds will be given on=

Thursday, January 29, Friday, January 30 and Saturday, January 31
- 8 PM
each evening at Live Arts, 123 East Water Street in Charlottesville,=

Virginia.

This unique piece features a fascinating musical score by University
of
Virginia music professor and director of the Virginia Center for
Computer Music Judith Shatin, who composed the music from sound clips=

collected by UVa Music students.

The story of the abduction of Persephone is illuminated in this origi=
nal
dance theatre piece that was created and work-shopped in collaboratio=
n
with students from the University of Virginia's Dance Program and=

choreographed by Artistic Director Rose Pasquarello Beauchamp.
Videographer and photographer, Richard Robinson, is responsible for t=
he
video that serves as another element of the dance, creating atmospher=
e
and furthering the story.

and movement.

Called "marvelously inventive" by the Washington Post and "exuberant
and
captivating" by the San Francisco Chronicle, Judith Shatin's music=

reflects her adventures as a timbral explorer. Her music is
internationally performed and has been featured at festivals includin=

Aspen, BAM Next Wave, Grand Teton, Havana in Spring, Moscow Autumn, S=
eal
Bay, Ukraine and West Cork. Orchestras that have performed her music=

include the Denver, Houston, Illinois, Knoxville, Minnesota, National=

and Richmond Symphonies. Shatin's music can be heard on the Centaur,=

Neuma, New World and Sonora labels. She has been commissioned by many=

organizations and ensembles across the United States, including the=

Barlow Foundation, Kronos Quartet, National Symphony, Hexagon Ensembl=
