Members of The Young Eight In Benefit Concert at George Washington Carver
Museum in Austin, Texas

New York, NY - Quinton Morris and John Littlejohn, members of The Young
Eight string octet, will present a duo violin concert on Sunday, April
23, 2006 - 3 PM at the George Washington Carver Museum and Cultural
Center, 1165 Angelina Street in Austin, Texas.

Repertoire for this concert will be solo works by Bach and Coleridge
Perkinson Taylor and original works by Littlejohn and Morris, along with
double violin concertos by Le Chevalier de Saint-Georges and Antonio
Vivaldi with a small chamber orchestra.

Funds from this concert will benefit the scholarship program for students
attending The Young Eight's String Seminar Chamber Music Program this
coming Summer at UT Austin.

Tickets for the April 23 concert are $20 and $10 for students and seniors.

Quinton Morris is a graduate of North Carolina School of the Arts, and
the Boston Conservatory, and is currently a Doctor of Musical Arts
candidate at UT Austin.  He has performed throughout the U.S., Europe,
the Middle East and Africa, and is the recipient of numerous competition
awards, including the Seattle Philharmonic Concerto Competition.  He is
also founder and director of The Young Eight.

John Littlejohn is a graduate of the Peabody Conservatory.  A native of
Lansing/Midland, Michigan, Mr. Littlejohn is currently the concertmaster
of the Newark Symphony and a member of the Baltimore Opera Orchestra.
His solo engagements have included performances with the Cosmic Chamber
Orchestra and a European tour with the International Youth Symphony
Orchestra in 2003.  In 2002, he was the winner of the Virtu Foundation
Instrument Competition and performs on a violin by Oliver Radke.

The Young Eight, with violinists Mariana Green-Hill, Kenneth L. Jarvis,
John H. Littlejohn and Quinton I. Morris, violists Christopher Jenkins
and Dawn Michelle Smith and cellists Ryan Murphy and Tahirah Whittington
has established itself as one of the next generation's most dynamic and
energetic chamber ensembles, presenting performances in New York City,
Philadelphia, Los Angeles, Seattle, and Austin.  Founded in 2002 at the
North Carolina School of the Arts, this critically acclaimed African-American
octet is dedicated to exposing various communities to the arts through
classical music and has been recognized for their dedication to children,
