Divided opinions indeed.  I've had them in my collection but have given
them away (not to a friend!).  However, as you know, opinions are always
divided when it comes to interpretations and quality of performance of
classical music.  Judgment is also complicated by the existence of numerous
snobs who reject budget-cd's outright and who only buy full price cd's
(which are very expensive in this country, The Netherlands).  Perhaps we
should collate a list of quality budget cd's (Naxos, EMI Red Line, DG
Galeria etc.)
