Grammy-Nominated Violinist Anastasia Khitruk in Concert on October 16 at
Christ & St. Stephens Church in Manhattan

Grammy-nominated violinist Anastasia Khitruk will be in concert on
Thursday, October 16 - 8 PM at Christ & St.  Stephen's Church, 120 West
69th Street in Manhattan.  Piano accompanist will be Elizaveta Kopelman.

Concert repertoire will be Giuseppe Tartini's Sonata in g-minor 'Devil's
Trill', Cesar Franck's Sonata in A-Major, Dmitri Shostakovich's Four
Preludes (arr.Tsyganov), contemporary American composer Michael Colina's
'Der Golum' and Pablo de Sarasate's Zigunerweisen.  Suggested donation

Anastasia Khitruk was nominated for a 2007 Grammy Award for her
performance of Miklos Rozsa's Violin Concerto, Op. 24 with the Russian
Philharmonic Orchestra for the Naxos label. More about the release at=

New York-based Anastasia Khitruk comes from a musical and artistic

family. After immigrating to the United States, Ms. Khitruk continued

the violin studies she had begun at Moscow's Central Music School. 
She made her orchestral debut at the age of eight.  Since then, she
has appeared in concert and recital worldwide, including numerous
performances in Boston, Los Angeles, New York, Aspen, London, Geneva,
Adelaide, Sofia, Paris, and Moscow.  In his review of her performance
of the Shostakovich Concerto No.  1 at the Adelaide Festival for Real
Time, Chris Reid declared, "Anastasia Khitruk is masterful!" She has
been a prizewinner at numerous competitions in the U.S. and internationally,
including the Paganini International Violin Competition.  Her previous
Naxos release, CD 8.570028 'Virtuoso Music at the Court of Catherine
the Great' - performances of the solo violin music of Ivan Khandoshkin

Pianist Elizaveta Kopelman was born in Moscow and studied at the Central
School of Music in Moscow with Dina Parachina and with Arnaldo Cohen at
the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester.  In 1995 she won the
prestigious Young Concert Artist Trust Competition in London, and since
then, appeared as a soloist throughout the UK, Europe, USA and South
America.  She has performed at Wigmore Hall, Royal Opera House, Queen
Elizabeth Hall, Royal Festival Hall, Barbican Centre, Weill Recital Hall
at Carnegie Hall and Alice Tully Hall with such orchestras as the London
Philharmonic, London Chamber Orchestra and New York Chamber Symphony.
In addition to performing with Anastasia Khitruk, Elizaveta also performs
regularly with her father, violinist Mikhail Kopelman.
