These are some new recordings which I'll likely succumb to judged by past
behavior:

Szymanowski String Quartets performed by the Goldner String Quartet on
Naxos 8.554315 - I have this repertoire on Denon, but the readings are
highly romantic in conception. It's time for an alternative issue.

Skalkottas String Quartets Nos. 3 & 4 from the New Hellenic Quartet on
BIS 1074 - I remember a list member recommending that I check out this
composer's string quartets; here's my opportunity.

Grieg/Debussy String Quartets from the Vertavo String Quartet on Simax
1201 - I've been very pleased with the Vertavo recordings of Brahms and
Nielsen string quartets and anticipate more of the same.

Mahler's 4th Symphony conducted by Segerstam on Chandos 9836 - I pick up
most Mahler 4ths, and Segerstam rarely disappoints.

Rameau Harpsichord Works from Sophie Yates on Chandos 0659 - Some Bach I
recently listened to reminded me of Rameau; this disc comes at a good time.

Bach's WTC Book 1 from Robert Levin on Hanssler 92116 - Hanssler routinely
issues fantastic keyboard recorded sound; with Bach and Levin added to the
mix, this set is a must.

Shebalin String Quartets Vol. 2 performed by the Krasni Quartet on Olympia
664. I found volume 1 a major discovery and look forward to this next
disc.

As an aside, I was very impressed with the recorded sound for Evgeni
Koroliov's Bach Keyboard Works disc on Hanssler. In fact, it's about the
best sounding piano disc I know. However, the Gramophone reviewer states
that the sound is restricted, close, and lacking in ambience. Any
opinions, one way or another, about the sound on this disc?
