Jan Jarvlepp asked:

>How about new viola concertos?

I was just commenting to the lady who'd recommended the Violin
Concerto of Talivadis Kenins, a Latvian-Canadian composer, that I heard
his one-movement Viola Concerto broadcast less than a year ago. Larry Lake,
who hosts that fine radio show (2 New Hours), reported that the state of
his health indicated that it was very likely to be Kenins' last work, alas.

Haven't heard his VC, but that VlaC knocked my socks off. Unfortunately,
I didn't record it. So what? Given Canada's modesty about its composers,
it'll only take a mere decade, perhaps a dozen years, for it to be out on
CD.
