Ruth Laredo is quite simply one of my favorite pianists on the scene today.
I own her recordings of the Scriabin piano sonatas as well as her first
concert CD in which she recreates her first piano recital. She plays with
rare insight, elegance and a convincing technique which in the case of the
Scriabin etudes Op. 42 that accompany the Sonatas is simply astounding.
I'm quite sure her La Valse was breathtaking as well. I look forward to
her next recital in Manhattan. Regardless of what she plays, I'd buy any
CD featuring her, especially as a soloist.
