The next WMV concert will be at BannerArts Studio, Saturday night May 18
at 7:30 pm, 4233C Howard Ave, Kensington, Maryland (see website for map).
Program: "Holy Roller" for alto saxophone and piano, by the amazing Libby
Larsen (composer of the opera Barnum's Bird), performed by "steamy" alto
saxophonist Rhonda Buckley (she played Jessica Krash's "Sex in the Suburbs"
at the March 9 event) and pianist Carl Banner.
Also on the music portion of the program: Paul Creston's jazzy Sonata for
alto saxophone and piano, and another try at Steve Reich's "Clapping Music"
with David Cheng and Carl Banner, clapping their hands.
Artist/activist/stand-up comic and Washington living treasure Lila Snow
will read from her memoirs, "With a Name Like Tuchmacher" and fiction/non-
fiction writer Ira Chaleff will read from his new book, "The Limits of
Violence: Lessons of a Revolutionary Life."
The BannerArts studio performances are the most informal of our events.
There are no reservations, so come early to guarantee a seat. The first
65 people will be seated - after that it is standing room only! Note:
We have raised our admission fee to $12 at the door.
