I just picked up the Hyperion Mendelssohn CD that has the 2 concerti,
the Capriccio Brillant, the Rondo Brillant and the Serenade and Allegro
giocoso. I don't know what possessed me other than Stephen Hough is the
soloist. I already have all these works, but I always admire Hough's
playing.

I believe that the old Serkin Mendelssohn concerti will remain my
favorites. I recently found a used cassette of these coupled with the
Violin Concerto, and the sound is quite gooe. Better than my OLD LP's
from the early '60's.

I'll take a listen or two to Hough and report in. Does anyone else have
this CD and opinions about it?
