And speaking of Sousa, does anyone know the origin of the term 'stinger'
as applied to the final chord played in many of his marches, as a kind of
punctuation signifying the end of the piece, always played on the fourth
beat of a 4/4 bar, or the second beat of a 2/4 or cut time bar?
