Ah -- the 20th-century's cult of 'personality', and the almost-requirement
for creators also to be inconoclasts.

One may speculate on the magical quotient of how to capture public
attention in today's world of the arts, between outrageousness and 'mere'
creative excellence. Notoriety (Jeff Koons) is not quite the same as
popularity; and sometimes neither of these connects too directly with
respect. 'Tis a puzzlement!
