Hello, I am establishing a library of classical piano music for my personal
study use, particularly including all outstanding solo works and ochestral
concertos with excellent performance. Regarding to the subject work, I
was told by one of my best friends, who is a senior piano teacher and an
amateur pianist, that the new EMI recording, performed by Leif Ove Andsnes
and City of Birmingham Symphony of Orchestra directed by Simon Rattle, is
one of the best which she ever heard. I have not enjoyed this performance
to date, and I am considering if this recording should be collected for my
everlasting reference, or there are any other valuable editions besides
these held by me: Kovacevich and Sawallisch (EMI p.1992), Curzon and Szell
(DECCA P.1962), Arrau and Giulini (EMI p.1961). In addition, I would also
like to obtain some extraordinary comments and suggestions on these
recordings of Tschaikowsky's 2nd piano concerto and Prokofiev's 3th piano
concerto and Sonatas. Thanks in advance for your enthusiastic assistance.
