Of the admittedly few recordings of Levine's I have heard, the only one
that ever caught my attention was a Candide Overture that he did live at
the Met for an AIDS benefit in the 1980's. Other then that, I have been
disappointed. I most heartily agree that MTT would be a natural and even
logical BSO Music Director. What with his ties to Bernstein and his
championing of American music. But I would not like to see SF lose this
man who appears to have single-handedly put SFO on the map.

I did see a report on him on German TV a while back and the man just looks
unhealthy. AIDS I doubt as it is a wasting disease. Now if I, a Wurst
loving, Bretzel und Schweinshaxen eating Bavarian can lose over 22 kilos in
7 months, ANYONE can! No, I did not do it eating the above. Hasefutter!
